A project pre requisite is to ensure that team mates understand each concepts. Glossary is a mandatory tool to avoid the Babel symptom. Personally I start a project by reading the concept’s definitions, it helps me to interconnect them. Words with confused definitions are future system’s weaknesses.

For Veracruz project, I initiated the shared glossary within Microsoft OneNote’s subpages. While I was defining a business entity, I identified stories associated to it and I assigned them a priority category. It’s a tad longer but I didn’t try to be exhaustive.

Benefits:

Every concepts are illustrated by story(ies).

Once the glossary is over I used the tag summary feature to generate a list of stories ordered by priority. This will be a starting point to initiate the redaction of the project Product backlog.

We use Live Mesh to share those documents in between project’s contributors.

You can download the OneNote glossary .zip or just the resulting list of stories as .pdf.

Veracruz mind map

On the picture, let's discover the keys concepts of Veracruz Project gaming system.

At the center lays the main concept : The Character

Its activities among its own social network impacts the town’s moods which surrounding it.

The Mind Map is a modeling technique imagined by Tony Buzan and destined to improve creativity and memorization.

Techdays 2008

L'Equipe de NetFxfactory sera présente lors des Techdays 2008 qui se dérouleront du 11 au 13 février. We consume an ever increasing amount of software and the number of peripherals is growing from the kitchen to the office. Very few people foresaw this growing appetite for unique identifiers, how many company names have been conditioned by the fact their associated (unique) domain is available?
The WWW does not avoid the real estate crisis. The size of our databases never stops growing; they absorb unique identifiers like Cetacean avid of plankton. This greediness hides a growing evil. Indeed, most software references the smallest piece of information most of the time by a unique identifier despite of its decay.
Friends, who can evaluate the remaining part of unused Guids? Guids are dying! this situation is aggravated by a particular reproduction mechanism.
Even if it is obvious that it is time to reason ourselves, think about your next developments. Adopt Guids! As fast as possible get various representatives of this species before quotas are imposed to us. Act! And act fast!

I invite you to benefit from the current commercial offer suggested by the GuidMarket company which is at this very moment delivering guids without any financial contribution.
